Not sure where to start? Choose by vehicle: car, ute & truck, 4WD, caravan & trailer or motorbike.
Which Type of GPS Tracker Do You Need?
- Two-Wire hardwired tracker: connects to constant power and stays hidden. The most popular choice for everyday cars, utes and vans.
- OBD plug-in tracker: plugs into the vehicle's diagnostic port in seconds, with no wiring.
- Immobilisation tracker: tracking plus the ability to stop a stolen vehicle being restarted.
- Long Life battery trackers: no wiring at all, ideal for trailers, caravans, boats and plant equipment.
- Portable and personal trackers: for people, bags and valuables, see personal GPS tracking.
- Dashcam with GPS tracker: records the road and tracks the vehicle in one device.
Prepaid or Monthly: What GPS Tracking Really Costs
Most GPS trackers in Australia come with an ongoing subscription. Our prepaid bundles include up to 5 years of tracking, with no monthly fees during the included period, so the price you pay up front is the price of tracking for years.
Prefer to spread the cost? Monthly plans are available on most trackers with no lock-in contract. Read our guide to how much vehicle tracking costs in Australia to compare.
Insurance Recognised, Locally Supported
More Australian insurers are asking drivers to fit a tracker, especially on high-theft vehicles. Our insurance recognised GPS trackers are backed by UK vehicle security brand GPSBob and supported here in Australia by the TechMonkey team.

GPS Tracker FAQs
How does a GPS tracker work?
The tracker works out its position using GPS satellites, then sends it over the 4G mobile network to the GPSBob platform, where you can see it live in the app. Learn more in how vehicle tracking works.
Do I need a SIM card or subscription?
No SIM card is needed: every GPSBob tracker has a built-in multi-network 4G SIM. Prepaid bundles include up to 5 years of service, or you can choose a monthly plan with no contract.
Will a GPS tracker drain my car battery?
A hardwired tracker draws very little power and is designed to run from the vehicle's battery. See does a GPS tracker drain a car battery for details.
Can I install a GPS tracker myself?
Yes. OBD trackers plug straight in, and Two-Wire trackers only need a constant power and earth connection. Immobilisation trackers are more involved, and we can refer you to an installer.
Is a GPS tracker better than an AirTag?
For a vehicle, yes. A 4G GPS tracker reports its own location live, wherever there's mobile coverage, instead of relying on nearby phones. Read GPS tracker vs AirTag.
Which GPS trackers are recognised by insurers?
The Two-Wire, Immobilisation and OBD trackers are insurance recognised. Requirements vary between insurers, so check your policy and ask us if you're unsure.
