A Car Immobiliser That Stops Relay Attacks and Keyless Car Theft
A relay attack is one of the fastest and most common ways keyless-entry vehicles are stolen today. Two criminals work together: one stands near your home with a device that picks up the signal from your key fob, while the other stands by your car with a device that relays that signal across. The car believes the key is present, unlocks and starts — often in under a minute, with your keys still sitting on the hallway table.
Relay theft isn't the only method. Thieves also use signal jammers to stop your car locking, and OBD port devices to programme a blank key in seconds. What all of these have in common is that they defeat the vehicle's factory security by imitating a genuine key.
